Default Honda Fit EV article

Honda Fit EV's efficiency is costly

Quote:
At an equivalent of 118 m.p.g., the electric Honda Fit is the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the U.S. But getting that mileage isn't cheap.
They beat the FFE on the "mileage" figure (mileage in quotes since its mostly just a marketing thing).

MPGe is not a marketing figure. It is the result of chemical and physics and engineering evaluation of the energy storage and use in vehicles. The ratings are based on EPA's formula, in which 33.7 kilowatt hours of electricity is equivalent to one gallon of gasoline, and the energy consumption of each vehicle during EPA's five standard drive cycle tests simulating varying driving conditions. It is the standard being used. While it may change a bit due to more testing in the future, it closely matches the theoretical equivalents of energy use.

The driving range of the electric vehicles varies according many factors.
The list below should help you compare how far they can go on the EPA combined driving cycle.

Model --------------- Battery - MPGe ------ Range
Mitsubishi I-MiEV - 16Kwh --112 MPGe - 62 Miles
Nissan Leaf -------- 24Kwh -- 99 MPGe - 73 Miles
Ford Focus Electric 23Kwh - 105 MPGe - 76 Miles
Honda Fit EV ------ 20Kwh -- 118 MPGe - 82 Miles

The Fit has the most driving range, but has the second smallest battery pack.
