Default Zero CO2

This needs to stop. Carbon Dioxide is NOT a pollutant, but a natural part of the planet's atmosphere. In fact, plant life depends on it to make the sweet Oxygen we all depend on. So Ford is basically saying that they want to starve the plants.

OK. If you think reducing CO2 generation will starve the plants, you're not going to be convinced to buy an electric car to reduce greenhouse gases, but there are plenty of other reasons to buy an EV:

1. Reduces local pollution directly (ozone, etc) and global pollution indirectly (centralized power plants produce energy more efficiently than the generating it locally in an ICE). Yeah coal pollutes, but even with coal as power source there is less overall pollution 'well to wheel' as documented buy more than one DOE study.
2. If electric cars are charged at night (non-peak), less energy is wasted in the grid.
3. EV's produce less toxins than ICE (no anti-freeze or oil changes and Li batteries are recycled)
4. EV's will reduce our dependence on foreign oil (most US power plants don't import their fuel source) and bolster national security.

That being said, there is nothing 'natural' about the current CO2 generation across the world. Human CO2 generation has outstripped the planets ability to absorb it (exacerbated by deforestion) so the CO2 level is rising and temperatures will change faster than nature can adapt. We need to reduce the amount of CO2 we are generating or watch the world change (entire Pacific island nations disappear, reefs die from acidic oceans, forests die b/c the climate changed faster than the forests could migrate, etc).
