Assuming a 48% residual on a 36 month lease you get $39,995 x .48 = $19,198 Residual value.
Using an interest rate or 1% (MF 1/2400 = 0.00042) your monthly lease payment calculation would be...
($26,245 - $19,198)/36 + ($26,245 + $19,198) x 0.00042 = $195.75 + $19.09 = $214.84 + tax
assuming a 6% sales tax of $12.89, I calculate $214.84 + $12.89 = $227.78.
But I see from your signature line that you got leather seats so I'm figuring another 1k on the MSRP.
So I guess the numbers pan out.
Well done!
Jay
thanks for providing that. as a first-time potential leasee, I cant tell you how much this has helped me understand the variables in-play! i'm in va (also a state with high taxes and few incentives) and am looking into a 24mo lease.. based on your calculations the attached is what I put together. would appreciate your thoughts (if you don't mind), especially around the tax side of things. i feel like my math checks-out alright, but just want to be sure before negotiation as i'm currently getting quotes in the $500 range, which is pretty far outside my budget and what I've seen.

much appreciated!

Talking Will take the plunge

FFE Pearl White with leather all the bells and whistles, I guess
12K miles
3 year
$3134.00 drive off
lease comes out to $276

will put a $1000 to hold the car as we will not be signing or closing for another 5 days.....going on a trip.

Basically emailed the dealership through the ford website.
they contacted me. I inquired about the car.
they did not realize that I had done some research and I told them the only reason I was inquiring was because I had read that ford was going to compete with the Leaf's lease program.
I guess they were not aware of this as the quoted lease went from $350 /mo to $285.00
I made some phone calls to the Nissan dealership and got their numbers....contacted Ford and told them that I really did not have any preference and that only the mo lease was the determining factor, and that I had 2 friends that just bought Leafs with the special lease deal.(which is true)

The girl I worked with came back with a "final" offer of $276.00
I told her I would think about it...she encouraged us to test drive the car
that was 3 weeks ago.

I went down that week and tested it...was quite impressed.
last week my wife tested and was impressed too

I also told her that we were not able to come down to do the paper work till a week later as of this date...
I guess these cars aren't exactly flying off the lot.....unlike the C-Max, zero deals on those.

Good?
Can get a better deal?

Default Thanks!

This thread saved me thousands of dollars! After reading this thread, I felt much better prepared to pursue a lease. The dealer's initial offer was ridiculous at over $15000 out of pocket for a 39 month lease.

I replied that this was a bad offer, even higher than the $929 down and $284 monthly for 36 months on ford.com. They quickly replied that they would match this (~$10,800 out of pocket) I countered with the information provided by all of you, i.e. most of you were spending a total of $9200-9600 for 36 months. Somehow with this info, they were "magically" able to come up with a deal of $0 down and $253/month (a total out of pocket of $9100).

I initially spent a total of about 45 minutes at the dealership when I first test drove the car (I actually left the dealership when he went "to see what my manager can do for you tonight" and told them to email me their offer). The negotiations consisted of 8 emails back and forth over a couple of days. Tonight I went in, signed the papers, got the tour and left in ~45 minutes.

Thanks to all of you this was a remarkably painless process and it was critically helpful to know what kind of deals I could expect to get. Thanks!
