Wait List?

I have $99 on the LEAF but I'm not happy with its looks or the fact that it isn't an American car.

I am psyched about getting the Ford EV, but there is no information on how to get on a waiting list.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

That is a key questions for me too.

I wonder when Ford will announce their plans. They seem to be a year behind Nissan so I guess in the Spring.

Fordy, it seems like alot of people feel the same way vis-a-vis the Leaf and Focus, myself included. Get me a waiting list to get on.

While I could be happy with either one, the looks on the front of the Leaf are a downer for me and the half time charge rate at 240V for the Focus is a big plus in my book (if you get caught somewhere with a low battery you don't have to spend half the day to charge it up to get home).

I hope Ford goes with the Nissan Leaf strategy of customer ordering (where the vehicles are allocated to the individuals and not the dealers), then the dealers have to compete to get the delivery - this insures sales at or below list price. This lets the buyers shop for a dealership that will sell it to them at a good price and is the reason Leaf's are often going for below list. The other strategy of allocating vehicles per dealership gives you the Chevy Volt experience where buyers get to compete for the cars with some dealerships asking for $5k-$10k above list.

Hopefully Ford decides to follow the Nissan model for this.

Re: Wait List?

any gouging and I'm out of the market. Leaf will win in that case
or I'll just go gas one more time.

Re: Wait List?

I understand that dealers have to make a profit too, and with an electric car, there will be less service revenue. I *can imagine* Ford letting the dealers charge a premium for as long as the market will bear it.

I am not going to get my knickers in a twist until I actually KNOW the pricing structure, with or without gouging. Then I'll decide what to do: buy a leaf, buy a plug-in Prius, wait until the suckers have their Focus EV's and then buy one, etc., etc.

I am in Canada, so I figure it will take 3 years before it is available here.I quite agree that the looks of the Focus is far better than the Leaf or the Volt.I think that an electric car has to be a 5 door hatchback to hide the higher floor at the back.Clearly the rear end of the Focus is a winner!

Re: Wait List?

AllCarsElectric.com is saying the Focus electric price will be $30,000. Any confirmation? Sounds like a much better car than the Leaf and if it is really $2800 cheaper, I might be able to live with the 6.6 kw charger. Although I really want 2 or 3 times faster built in.

Re: Wait List?

I just checked today May 12th with a Ford dealer, and there is no word on wait lists. From all the information I can glean, the car comes our for sale in November of this year. So, an announcement should be made within the next two months.
