fully chargeable in 6-12 hours (depending on 110v or 220v)
Future starts now.
These cars are only focused on home ownwers. It would be next to impossible to charge in a apt. complex or a city street. And no one has a 220 in there garage so you need to call electrition!
Many people have 220 in their garage… I don’t know where you’re coming from with that. Many store appliances in their garages.
Ford is using an Level 2 charge amperage of above 6 Amps, so the Focus Electric can fully recharge using a Level 2 charger in 3 – 4 hours (big advantage for the Focus Electric as its half the time of the Leaf).
The amperage at 240v has to be in the 30A range to recharge a 23KW in 3-4 hrs.The breaker and the wiring have to be rated at 40A (more than for a dryer but less than for a stove. The time required for recharging will be primarily related to the level of discharge and neither Nissan or Ford have been precise on that.
I can’t believe I’ve been going for years wtihuot knowing that.
I guess you have to carry a Honda Generator in the trunk if you run out of juice from the plug in charge. Maybe a small trailer with a fuel backup. Promises, promises, LOL.
The generator would have to be big:240v in the 7kw range!
I think I’ll get a Volt thanks. This just seems like copy of the Leaf. Hasn’t Ford listened? People want longer range opportunity and one that doesn’t take 6 hours… The only reason why people would choose this over what’s already is on the market is if you under cut the prices, but it sounds like you not going to do that…
The Volt’s range is only 25-50 miles, though, because you’re lugging around a gas motor, etc. Theoretically, a family could own a short-range electric (such as Focus) and an extended range electric (such as C-Max Energi or Volt) for longer trips. 99 miles would be sufficient for most daily driving needs, while the 500 miles of the C-Max Energi (not to mention a percentage of those would be electric only) would be perfect for driving to the beach and back (without needing to refuel).
I’m not hating on the Volt, but looking at cargo capacity, range, weight, efficiency, a Focus+Energi combination would suit nicely. If the $40k causes sticker shock, calculations of gas savings over a ten-year period is a quick elixir; one that is less helpful if you intend to feed your Volt from the pump.
The LEAF, MiEV and Tesla S all have a fast charge port for public fast chargers called Level 3. In fact the Tesla S can come with 160,230 or 320 mile range. Ford doesn’t have that.
Since most of us only drive 30-40 miles a day a few hours to charge at night is only 5 sec to plug in and 5 sec to unplug. I’ll take USA power any time over 45% imported OIL that gets burned in a gas engine that is only 20% or less efficient at a cost of over $1 Billion a day.
Brake also last close to forever since a plugin regenerates energy while slowing or stopping. A gas/diesel just wears out brakes and makes brake dust and heat causing more expense and pollution.
We each need choice and plugins are a good choice for many people.
You are actually a just right webmaster. The web site loading velocity is incredible. It seems that you’re doing any distinctive trick. Also, The contents are masterpiece. you have done a great process in this topic!
Surprisingly, many older Americans are also seeking ways to improve their
focus and function, and not get left in the dust.
You can buy aniracetam both as an over the counter memory loss supplement
or prescription drug. Like cortisol, these neurotransmitters are released during
those fight-or-flight stress responses.
