Vin!

Jason at Richmond Ford emailed me this morning to say they had received a VIN for my FFE, in a status of "In Order Processing". They estimate availability of August 20.

This is about 2 months earlier than we had guessed. Michigan Assembly Plant doing good work.

I'll probably put this in at least two blogs, so bear with me.

May 18, 2012. He was estimating Sept - Oct delivery at that time. He said there is an asterisk next to it meaning it could be delayed past the August 20 date.

My order was place back in early March. At this time I still do not have VIN number. Getting a VIN number is like getting assurance that yes Ford is planning on making your car some day. Not having a VIN number is just leaving you guessing, and hoping that someday the dealership calls you. The issue here is that the Ford focus Electric is available for a limited time. Ford has never spelled out how long this limited time is. This could be one to three years. I could get a phone call from the dealership saying “We are sorry, but we are unable to fill your order. Could we sell you in something else?” The FFE is not cheap to produce, and currently have limited sales appeal. This is due to the high sticker price. This is a strong reason to end production of the vehicle.
